People choose to have facelifts and other cosmetic procedures for a variety of reasons, and even if you are comfortable with your decision, you might not want to advertise it to the rest of the world. Patients often want natural results that people take note of without realizing the extent of the work a doctor performed.
If you want to achieve a discreet look that still gives you the look and feel of a facelift, you don't have to worry. These tips will help you do exactly that.
Establish Priorities
Many people come in to the doctor's office with explicit plans for the future. They may have wishes for a facelift, but they don't necessarily know which parts of their face they would like to see changed most.
The best thing you can do before surgery or any other procedure is to assess with your doctor what specific changes you would like to see. For example, if you are sure you want your brows lifted, bring this up during your next appointment. Your doctor may be able to find a procedure that is non-invasive while targeting the areas you are most passionate about.
Consider a Mini Facelift
Some people are passionate about undergoing the entire facelift, but they still don't want anybody to know that they have undergone surgery. In cases like these, the mini facelift may be the best choice.
A mini facelift is a more mild procedure that corrects some of the same issues as a facelift but with less invasive techniques. The incisions are more hidden, often in the hairline or near the ear, creating a discreet effect. Rather than changing the entirety of your look, the facelift will rejuvenate your appearance. This procedure is great for those signs of aging that have yet to become too pronounced.
Choose a Less Extensive Procedure
Some less invasive procedures might be more up to your standards than a complete facelift or mini facelift. Injectables like Sculptra, Kybella, Juvederm, and Botox can address many of the issues people who have facelifts want to address.
For example, Sculptra restores facial volume and stimulates the growth of collagen in the face, giving you a more youthful look. The injection can also address deep creases and wrinkles.
Kybella is another option. This injectable address fat that grows under the chin, no matter how much you exercise or diet. This injection can give you a tighter, youthful appearance.
Still looking for something to overhaul your look? Juvederm and Botox can plump up your face and fill in lines you consider undesirable. The former helps smooth out wrinkles around your lips, while the latter is ideal for areas around your eyes, as well as smile and forehead lines.
Take Ample Time Off
If you do opt for a facelift, keep in mind that you need to take some time off to recovery. Your face may have bandages, swelling, and bruising for several weeks. If you don't want anybody to know that you have had surgery, make sure you get some rest and follow your doctor's orders.
Your doctor will tell you not to engage in strenuous activity after a surgery. Exercising too quickly after your procedure could result in unwanted side effects.
Choose a Good Doctor
Your cosmetic surgeon should be board-certified. You should also feel comfortable working with your doctor and nurses. In fact, you should be so comfortable that you have no problem asking questions about the different procedures available to you.
